This Privacy Policy applies to the following products operated by SereneBooks LLC, a Pennsylvania limited liability company:
- Bookplate (bookplate.app) — a personal library management application
- OrganizedSpine (organizedspine.com) — an inventory management platform for independent bookstores
1. Who We Are
SereneBooks LLC is a small software company based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. We build tools for people who love books. You can reach us at hello@serenebooks.com.
2. What We Collect
Bookplate
When you create an account and use Bookplate, we collect:
- Account information: your name and email address
- Library data: books you add to your library, including titles, authors, ISBNs, shelf locations, reading status, ratings, notes, loan records, and any cover images you upload
- Billing information: payment details processed through Stripe (we do not store your full card number)
- Usage data: sign-in timestamps and browser/device type, used solely to operate the service and assist with account support requests
Within a shared library group, reading activity, ratings, and newly added books are visible to other members of your group. Personal notes you add to books are private to you alone and are never visible to other members of your shared library group.
OrganizedSpine
When you create an account and use OrganizedSpine, we collect:
- Account information: your name, email address, and store name
- Inventory data: book inventory records, sales data, and related business information you enter into the platform
- Billing information: payment details processed through Stripe (we do not store your full card number)
- Usage data: sign-in timestamps and browser/device type, used solely to operate the service and assist with account support requests
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain our services
- Process payments and manage your account
- Send transactional emails (account confirmation, password reset, billing receipts)
- Respond to support requests
- Improve the reliability and performance of our products
We will never sell your personal information. We will never share your personal information with advertisers or third parties for marketing purposes. Your inventory and library data belong to you.
4. AI-Assisted Features
Both Bookplate and OrganizedSpine include an AI-powered genre suggestion tool. When you add a book, metadata — specifically title, author, ISBN, and any additional catalog information retrieved from our book databases (such as synopsis and subject tags) — may be sent to a third-party AI service to generate genre suggestions tailored to the categories you have defined in your library or inventory.
No personally identifiable information is ever sent to AI services. The AI tool processes book metadata only — it has no access to your account details, reading history, notes, or any other personal data.
We currently use OpenAI to power this feature. We may change AI providers in the future; this policy will be updated to reflect any such change.
5. Third-Party Services
We work with the following third-party services to operate our products:

6. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you close your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or financial compliance purposes (such as billing records).
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your account and associated data
- Export your library data (Bookplate) or inventory data (OrganizedSpine) at any time

8. Children's Privacy
Our services are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify active users by email and update the “Last updated” date at the top of this document. Continued use of our services after such notice constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
